I really want to get through this game, I trully do. Challenge of the Warlords was fun and that was the only reason I wanted to pick this game up. But it's very different from challenge of the warlords, and I don't mean that in reference to the difference between a fantasy or sci-fi setting. The gameplay is different.
I like Galactrix's circular arena and how jems can drop from all directions, I don't like how very little you get to do with it. In Challenge of the Warlords the player was met with a battle along every step of the way, and to earn anything you had to battle. In Galactrix you'll be doing plenty of other stuff with the game board, except battling.
The puzzle battles are what I enjoyed about the Puzzle Quest games and I'm really put off by just how little battling there is to do in this game. Sure I could challenge the little random ships that fly about in every system but there is absolutely no real reward to doing that in the way that there are tangible rewards for such things as mining.
Without the battles the whole game just seems to drag into a slog of mining and gatehacking.
In short, it's boring.
